Lauren is a first year doctorate student in the Education, Methodology, Policy, and Leadership program at the UO. Originally from Dallas, TX., she earned her Bachelor of Science from Texas State University, where she majored in Exercise Sports and Science and Mathematics, along with a Teacher certification EC-12. After graduating from undergraduate she worked as a high school math teacher and coach while pursuing her Master of Business Administration from University of Texas A&M-Commerce. She worked as a teacher for eight years in Title 1 schools, and worked directly with underrepresented populations daily. This is where she formed the group called Scholars, which focuses on helping African American students thrive in education through, tutoring, mentorship, and communication skill development. Lauren inspires to become a college professor or an independent consultant in helping underrepresented youth become career and college ready.
