Cultivating
Organizational Learning
We bring people of different backgrounds together to celebrate and reflect on our individual and collective work. This fosters a community where growth, well-being, resilience, and purpose are at the center of all we do. We hope this inspires ongoing, positive change.

Our Programs
Equity Leads Community of Practice
We connect DEI colleagues from across campus who do similar work. Monthly get togethers offer a community of practice for those who do similar work.
National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity
The National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity promotes concrete, empirically tested strategies for increasing productivity, with a focus on the unique challenges of underrepresented faculty, post-doctoral scholars, and doctoral students. Resources are available to all faculty, staff, and graduate students through the UO’s institutional membership.
Professional Development Workshops
We provide immersive opportunities for students, faculty and staff to wrestle with complex issues at UO and beyond. Current workshops during the 2025-26 academic year focus on Antisemitism, Islamophobia, and enhancing faith-based experiences and spirituality in our community. We have ongoing partnerships with Islamic Network Group and Project Shema.
Retaining Talented Faculty and Staff
Research on retaining the most talented faculty and staff focuses on psychological and physical safety, organizational accountability, unvarnished truth telling, love and spirituality. We leverage the science of retention to create working environments where employees want to stay and use their minds to move mountains out of the way! Read more about SOULS.
Search Advocacy Program
Our Search Advocacy Program advances UO’s commitment to inclusive excellence by helping search committee members test their thinking. This helps to minimize the impacts of cognitive and structural biases and promotes practices that advance broader candidate pools.
UO African American Workshop & Lecture Series
We sponsor an annual lecture series that connects national experts with UO thought leaders and change agents. The series helps our campus understand how we may leverage expertise to institutionalize more effective environments, policies and practices.
What is L.A.C.E.?
L.A.C.E. leverages the power of love, authenticity, courage, and empathy to inspire mutual care, extraordinary achievement in our teaching, learning, and leading. Using its framework, L.A.C.E. dinners and workshops offer opportunities to engage in communal, constructive conversation that’s aimed at facilitating a meaningful connection.
Our division piloted a program designed for UO employees to strengthen communication and leadership skills while building meaningful connections. Now housed in the Office of Human Resources, this program offers practical tools and a supportive community to help employees succeed. Employees learn to navigate challenges and overcome barriers with the
support of colleagues, in spaces that provide psychological safety.
The President's Diversity Advisory Community Council (PDACC) provides guidance and makes recommendations that advance the mission of the University of Oregon. As a confidential sounding board of UO ambassadors, the board identifies opportunities for collaboration and provides recommendations in the following key areas: access and retention, developing and maintaining educational partnerships, developing additional opportunities for innovative research, and teaching and engagement.
