This year’s artwork is Mino Bimaadiziwin

"The direct translation for Mino Bimaadiziwin is "the good life" in Anishinaabemowin, the Ojibwe language. The meaning of this word or phrase, is to emphasize the importance in working toward achieving a good life. We all know that life comes with many struggles but when we seek to better ourselves, whether that means we are receiving guidance form others, participating in our cultural practices, or finding healing through other forms of medicine; this all counts as seeking a better life for oneself. All the hard work we do everyday is the path to living and leading a good life. ."

Nicole Downey, also a Sapsikwala alum, Graduated in 2022 with her Doctorate in Special Education.
