Kiana Youssefzadeh

Multicultural Academic Counselor, Asian, Desi and Pacific Islander Student Retention Specialist

Kiana Youssefzadeh (she/her) is the Multicultural Academic Counselor & Asian, Desi and Pacific Islander (ADPI) Student Retention Specialist. She was born in Tehran, Iran and spent most of her childhood in Iran. She has grown up between American and Iranian cultures and her bicultural identity is what shapes her worldview. Kiana was a first generation and transfer student, and she is a double duck with both a master’s degree in French and a PhD in Romance Languages from the UO. Before transitioning to advising, Kiana taught French at the UO for approximately seven years, giving her insight into the struggles and successes students experience in the classroom. In both teaching and now advising, Kiana is adamant that everyone deserves to be heard, seen, and valued. In her free time, Kiana enjoys reading, playing video games, tending to her houseplants, and spending time with friends and family.
