Darius Redrick (he/him) is the Multicultural Academic Counselor & African American Retention Specialist. Darius has seven years of working in education and four years specifically in higher education. Darius chose to serve in education, because of the impact potential education can have on someone's life. Specifically, he enjoys how much higher education emphasizes a student's empowerment, discipline, and impact on the world. He believes his journey to becoming an educator started as an adolescent; as he began to grow in awareness of how teachers, coaches, and mentors helped him remove barriers to his success. As a certified poverty coach and educational leader, Darius hopes to bring positive representation, passion, and success while serving students in CMAE and at the UO. Darius has a bachelor’s degree in biology and plans to further his education at the UO. Outside of work Darius enjoys using his energy to create things that will have positive lasting effects; like photography, poetry, and memories to name a few.
