We are Currently hiring for several positions at the CMAE for the Spring 2025 term. We will be posting the applications at the end of Winter Term.

This position serves primarily as the first contact person for the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence and provides welcoming attention to visitors. In addition to greeting and attending to CMAE visitors, the student services specialist assists with all responsibilities of running the front desk, answering phone calls, scheduling advising appointments, running errands, and helping/supervising students with printing, Resource Pond, and other duties as assigned.
The Marketing and Social Media Assistant is responsible for working with CMAE staff to maintain students’ connection to CMAE’s services as well as create all marketing assets for the CMAE. They create professional and timely communications to students, staff, faculty and external constituents through creative email newsletters, digital and marketing materials. The student takes primary responsibility for CMAE’s social media pages, sourcing content, designing graphics, and posting.
The PA works alongside CMAE staff and student staff to connect students with CMAE’s academic programming, resources, events, marketing, outreach, and community building. The PA also collaborates with the marketing and PR team to help promote CMAE services and events through social media and tabling events.
The CMAE Science Tutor will be responsible for working together with undergraduate students who need assistance with grasping concepts and themes of across science disciplines at the UO. The CMAE Science Tutor should be comfortable assisting students with intro level chemistry (221,222, and 223), biology (211, 212, and 213) as well as additional 100-200 level science courses. CMAE tutors will also work with high school students who are part of CMAE’s college-prep program (Oregon Young Scholars Program ‘OYSP’) providing intermittent tutoring in high school level science. CMAE tutors hold interactive one-on-one and in-group tutoring sessions: listening, asking questions, and discussing choices as students take an active role in the tutoring session.
The CMAE Writing Tutor will be responsible for working together with undergraduate students who need assistance with academic courses. The Writing Tutor position provides writing support for students across academic disciplines. During these appointments, writing tutors will focus on developing a student’s writing skills by actively engaging them in their writing process. CMAE Writing Tutors hold interactive one-on-one and in group tutoring sessions: listening, asking questions, and discussing choices as writers brainstorm, draft, and refine their papers. CMAE tutors will also work with high school students who are part of CMAE’s college-prep program (Oregon Young Scholars Program ‘OYSP’) providing intermittent tutoring in high school level math.
The CMAE Math Tutor will be responsible for working together with undergraduate students who need assistance with academic courses. The CMAE Math Tutor should be proficient in assisting students with the following math courses: Math 101, 111, 112, 241/251, 242/252, 243/253. CMAE tutors will also work with high school students who are part of CMAE’s college-prep program (Oregon Young Scholars Program ‘OYSP’) providing intermittent tutoring in high school level math. CMAE tutors hold interactive one-on-one and in-group tutoring sessions: listening, asking questions, and discussing choices as students take an active role in the tutoring session.

Bridge Program Assistant
Positions: 1
The Bridge Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the CMAE staff in organizing academic programs and events related to bridge programming, including the OYSP. This position will work closely with the Bridge Coordinator, to coordinate various aspects of the OYSP and NSFR programs throughout the year. This includes advertising the program, assisting with high school student outreach and communication, interfacing with prospective students and their guardians to facilitate enrollment, and event planning for the OYSP Summer Academy.

Oregon Young Scholars Program Resident Assistant
Yearly Positions: 10-15
OYSP hosts a Summer in-person camp on the University of Oregon campus during the last full week of July each year. Enrolled high school students can apply for free to attend classes, workshops, and leaderships building exercises with the goal of better preparing them for entering college. OYSP RAs lead student groups, activities, and monitor students in their dorms for the duration of their time at UO.

New Student Fall Retreat Leadership Team Member
Yearly Positions: 10-15
The Student Leadership Team (SLT) is comprised of a dynamic group of students who serve as facilitators, trainers, peer educators and mentors to incoming students during and after the New Student Fall Retreat. The SLT take part in a ten-week intense diversity training during the spring term prior to fall retreat. During this time, student leaders learn about their identity and leadership development, fostering difficult conversations, and leading incoming students in the Fall. They have a direct role in planning and implementing the New Student Fall Retreat.

When a position opens, we will add you to an email list with the information and link to the application. Additionally, we will post on our social media pages and advertise in our monthly news letters that we will be hiring.
