Preparing The Diversity Action Plans
January 3, 2017
8:30am - 11:30am
EMU Cedar & Spruce Rooms
Presented by Frank & Leslie García
The workshop will be an interactive session for university leadership providing presentation, small group and large group discussion for Deans, Vice Presidents and Directors. The focus is on racial equity in both the domestic and international contexts, racial bias and disparities from an institutional rather than an individual perspective.
The three and one-half workshop will include presentations and discussions on the history of racial inequity nationally, internationally and in Oregon, the concept of equity vs. equality, and implicit bias from an individual and institutional perspective. It will close with scenarios that participants will work-through using an equity lens in order to understand how to continue to consider equity within their individual schools and colleges.
