As a person with Jewish ancestry, with VERY curly hair, people have always looked at me as different, as something that didn't belong. That skin and that hair did not go together. Growing up in Oregon, children would ask me how did my hair curl. I'd say, "It just comes out of my head that way." I love myself, and my hair is part of me. I would not want to be anyone else, but who I am. We've made peace-my hair and I. We exist in support of each other, and Jove all that we are.
