To me, hair means feeling. There are so many feelings that come with hair, and I don't mean just texture or weight. I mean feeling a loved family member or a dear friend brush or braid it like they have for years; feeling a lover tangle their fingers in it during a moment of passion and all the butterflies that follow; feeling the wind whip through it when you ride your bike down a hill with no helmet or stick your head out the window of a moving car that's blasting your favorite song. Hair mediates the sensation of all the little moments of joy, freedom, and vulnerability in life, weaving in and out, that we forget to hold onto.
