My hair means a lot to me. Dealing with my hair has been a struggle for most of my life, but as I get older, it gets easier to be natural. My hair feels Jess and less like something about myself that I need to fix. I've lived in all kinds of places. I went to school on a reservation, lived in the city, and lived in New Zealand. People seem to respond differently to my hair depending on where I am. In my family, big hair is good!
