Stella-Marie Akindayomi is the Multicultural Counselor & Black/African-American Student Retention Specialist. In addition to her role as academic counselor, Stella's responsibilities focus on retention of Black/African-American students. Stella comes to the UO from the University of New Mexico, where she worked in Student Life and is a doctoral student. Prior to that, she served as an instructor/advisor at Mississippi Valley State University. She has more than five years of experience working within the Black/African-American community in various capacities, including academic and personal development programs for youth and young adult learners. Stella is a graduate of Grambling State University (Louisiana). Outside of work, Stella enjoys traveling and hanging out with her daughter, Amaya.
